lyocris in the wind
Jun. 20th, 2010 01:22 amwhy oh why did I decide to start working on four potential themes* for
500themes at once? x.x my thoughts are scattered enough when I write without the deliberate addition of divergent story lines and similar-but-not characterizations of the exact same character.
on a slightly-related side note, my Naruto no longer comes across as a schizophrenic maniac in fic, so I suppose that's a minor cause for joy. writing a decent Itachi and Madara, however ...Kishimoto I hate you whenever I start, I inevitably erase everything because it doesn't equal the complexity in thought and action of the original, especially given that for Itachi, his actions come across as polar opposites sometimes, even with Kishimoto's explanation for the Uchiha Massacre, etc. I need to review all of that before I get to writing that part out ... if I write it out.
I hate my propensity for unnecessary research right now. technically, I don't need to know the details of reality in buddhism or buddhist philosophy or the influence of buddhism on traditional japanese society or the details of traditional japanese society or animal and plant and colour symbolism but I still have twenty tabs open strictly for research on a separate vein than the anime/manga.
... note to self: stay away from ff.net and youtube unless in desperate need of inspiration or all four themes are filled.
*themes: #81 (Across the Worlds), two undecided (on both theme and characters), and one centering on the Uchiha (mainly Itachi and Madara**, with a touch of Fugaku***)
** Madara really has been alive just a bit too long, I think. >.>; I tend to have bits and pieces of future portions of fics writing themselves in my head as I go and I just can't seem to portray any sort of relationship between Itachi and Madara, be it pure suspicion or a teacher-student bond (however temporary it is) or even just the bare basics of a familial connection ("Itachi, I am your many-times great grandfather" ... yeah, no) without at least a hint of paedophilia.damnit, Madara, there's no one else who's 200+ years old
*** I really do wish Fugaku had more of a role in the manga. Apart from his apparent coolness toward his children (countered only by his wife's words to Sasuke, i think?) and his willingness to revolt against the Hokage (which was, granted, apparently a long time in the making, given the omnipresent enmity between the Senju and Uchiha clans even before Konohagakure was founded with the daimyo of Hi no Kuni's permission) I really can't think of that much characterization in canon for him.at this rate, I'll be characterizing him based off facial structure and appearance
